Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone is having a great start to their week. I know I have touched on this a little and if you scan around my blog, you will also find this information, but I wanted to give a true intro or “Why My Blog”?
My name is Jake Moreland. I am 27 years old (Libra :)). I grew up in a small town in East Texas and now live and work in the Dallas metro. I went to college and graduated with a BS in Hospitality & Tourism Management and I currently work in hotel sales. I have 1 dog named Sara, she’s a red-heeler mix and keeps me on my toes! Other than that, I’m honestly pretty boring.
I started this blog a long time ago because I wanted to put my thoughts and journey of weight loss out there. My focus has shifted slightly – I love to run and have run various races in the past 10 years. I am trying to get back into running a Half-Marathon (hopefully in November if I can get my sh*t together). I also have gained about 100 lbs in the past 2-3 years and have sustained it for the past year to year and half.
One of the things I have always struggled with is self-confidence and self-esteem. Even at my smallest in High School, I was still very insecure about my size – isn’t that always the case? But one thing I read a few years ago has really stuck with me – losing weight won’t fix the problem. If you can’t or don’t love yourself now, what makes you think that losing the weight will? You will still see problems with your body or how you look just with a smaller number on the scale. And this is very true, case and point above. I’ve developed a more body-positive thinking rather than numbers on scale or a tape measure thinking. And it has helped. Am I still insecure, absolutely. But I have learned that shopping in the Big & Tall section isn’t a bad thing anymore, it’s just where I’m at right now.
Now is it a b-word to shop in the Big & Tall section? Yes – the clothes suck. If I can ever do something with my life, I think it would be go into the Big & Tall segment of the clothing industry and offer cute, cheap clothes!
Anyway, if you have ever or currently struggle with exercise and eating healthy and losing weight, I hope this site will help you a. realize that you aren’t alone and b. maybe offer some advice or options you didn’t think of?
That’s all for me now!
