Happy Thursday! I hope you all are doing well – happy last day of April! March drug on and April flew. And now we’re staring down the barrel of May.
With everything going on, I just wanted to put this quick post out today. You have probably heard the idiom, “April showers bring May flowers.” And while that is usually meteorologically true, it’s also a great metaphor. In Texas, May starts to get warmer and sunnier after a gloomy April. Sun is out, people get outside more and increasing endorphins, “endorphins make you happy and happy people just don’t kill their husbands.” (Legally Blonde)
Everything seems scary. We have had to experience something that no one living has ever experienced before. And there are no graphs, models, or predictions that really could have helped us prepare for this. And I think for the most part, at least in Texas, we have done some good to keep everything at bay. But all in all, we are coming out of a dark April into a hopefully blooming and fruitful May. I’m not going to get into the reopening of the states or anything because that’s not what this is about. I just feel that now, we kind of know what we are up against and can navigate our lives moving forward around that knowledge.
If you aren’t part of the people who will be able to “open back up” tomorrow, then maybe think of May as a restart for something else. Start a new house project, work on a personal goal, etc. I’m going to try and get back into my weight loss goals, especially now that I’m averaging 6 miles of walking per target shift haha.
I hope this post helps sparks something in you. It’s hard to remain positive during all of this. Since being laid off, I feel like I’m on hold. My life has been paused while everything else keeps going around me. Just waiting for that next step that is leaps away. But I’m putting out into the universe that May will be different. I’m going to stop and smell the May flowers and hopefully you will too!
I love you all! Be safe!
