Spooky Week and Self Care

Happy Wednesday and Halloween Week! I hope you all are having a good week even with the cold wintery weather we are having in Texas.

How are you doing? Are you taking care of yourself? Are you ok? I feel like I have to constantly ask myself these questions lately. There are so many things happening in the world it’s exhausting. Trying to carve out a moment of normalcy in the day is hard. To feel normal, to put worry aside. I have to remind myself to take a second to unclench my jaw, relax my shoulders, and breathe. There doesn’t seem to be an end to anything either.

I am trying to distract myself though. Work has become extremely busy and I don’t think we’ll be getting any extra support any time soon. Just have to make it through to the new year, right? I’m cooking a little more, taking care of the dog, and caring for plants. I’m starting to move them inside since it’s cold this week but with Texas weather it could be 80 again next week. Moving them inside has made me realize how truly too many plants I have. It’s a little ridiculous. We all have a vice though right?

I know I keep saying this but I will have more recipes coming. I’ll be honest, I have intentions of doing all of my recipes the first weekend of every month so I have the content for the rest of the month. But my “spoons” are so low lately that I just don’t have the energy. I was watching a TikTok recently of a woman with depression talking about one of her down days. How she didn’t have energy and had to force herself to put makeup on and eat lunch. But then she’d sit and lay around for hours at a time and watch TikTok videos for four hours straight. And I realized, I have these episodes often. Sometimes I equate it to just laziness but it really isn’t (at least that’s what I’m telling myself). Now to figure out ways to get through them. All that to say, November will be better. I plan to have holiday inspired items.

I hope you have a great day and rest of October. We are in the final countdown of 2020. Please take care of yourself, please vote, and please wear a mask. Love you!

  1. I voted. I wear a mask and I am taking care of myself.
I love this time of the year because of the holidays and the cooler weather.
After Christmas, it can get a little blah with no holidays to celebrate and the weather is gloomy. We just have to think of ways to keep ourselves going.
    I love you!!
